This is, unfortunately, many developers’ first roadblock when getting started with WebAssembly. They assume that if they just have rustc installed and pass a –target=wasm flag that they’ll get something they could load in a browser. If you figure out how to load the file using the JS API, it will fail for mysterious and hard-to-debug reasons. What you really need is the unofficial toolchain distribution which implements the platform integration for you.
